Former Infosys President Mohit Joshi to be next CEO and MD of Tech Mahindra

11 Mar 2023 , 03:17 PM

Tech Mahindra, on March 11 announced that Mohit Joshi, President of Infosys, will become their next CEO and Managing Director, effective from December 20. The announcement comes after he resigned from Infosys on March 11 after 22 years with the company. He will be the key managerial personnel (under Companies Act, 2013) for a period of 5 years from December 20, 2023 to 19 December 2028 (both days inclusive).

Joshi will be taking charge from C P Gurnani after his retirement on December 19 this year.

As per Tech Mahindra said in the stock filing, “Appointment of Mr. Mohit Joshi, (DIN: 08339247) as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and Key Managerial Personnel under the Companies Act, 2013, for a period of 5 (five) years with effect from 20th December, 2023 to 19th December, 2028 (both days inclusive).”

In the statement, company also said that Joshi will join 'well before the date' of his appointment as CEO and MD to allow for sufficient transition time.

Mohit Joshi’s tenure in Infosys will end in June and after that he will be on leave. This will be the second biggest exit from the company in recent months as Ravi Kumar S, a former Infosys President, who exited the company and took over the role of Cognizant CEO in January.

Mohit is the head of the Global Financial Services & Healthcare and the Software businesses, which include Finacle (the banking platform) and the AI/Automation portfolio in Infosys. He also led Sales Operations and Transformation for Infosys and executive responsibility for all large deals across the company.

“Mohit’s appointment is the successful culmination of a rigorous selection process during which the NRC evaluated a number of internal and external candidates. Mohit’s experience with digital transformation, new technologies and large deals will complement Tech Mahindra’s strategies and continue to build on the strong growth momentum demonstrated by the company', said Tech Mahindra NRC Chairperson TN Manoharan.
