Foxlink halts production at AP plant after fire incident

1 Mar 2023 , 12:52 PM

Foxlink, a Taiwanese firm that supplies Apple Inc. with cables, has announced a 30-day break for its staff in response to the fire catastrophe that occurred here. This is expected to have an impact on production at the factory.

Almost 1,600 employees of the Jinkalamitta plant in Tirupati district have been given a one-month leave from work by the company, and they have been told to go back to their respective hometowns, an official said on Tuesday.

The mishap happened on Monday. Police stated that no lives were lost, nevertheless.

According to Renigunta deputy superintendent of police (DSP) A. Ramachandra, who is observing the situation at the facility, 'They (Management) declared holidays for staff for 30 days.'

Analyzing the incident, he suggested that 30 days might not be sufficient.

Even while representatives from the state factories, labour authorities, and insurance companies have begun visiting the facility to determine the extent of the loss, the contract manufacturer has yet to file any complaints.

Foxlink has not yet filed a complaint with the authorities on the fire that entirely damaged one of the three sheds, the primary manufacturing plant.

'It takes time to calculate the loss because bills have to be confirmed and compared in order to get a number. Going through this activity will take some time; it could take 10 to 15 days 'He noted, elaborating on why it might take more time to submit the FIR.

He also suggested that, given the extent of the shed's damage and collapse, 30 days of vacation might not be adequate and that it might potentially take up to four months.
