Indian equity markets saw a volatile day today. Markets opened in Green but then short-term profit booking created selling pressure. Nifty 50 closed, down by 27.45 points. Sensex closed, down by 40.14 points. Top Gainers today were UPL, IndusInd Bank and Dr Reddy's. Top Losers today were Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Tech Mahindra.
All the broader market indices ended the day in red. Selling pressure was there in a number of small-cap stocks. Buying demand was seen in some private bank stocks. This probably happened after First Citizen Bank bought SVB. This may have raised hope regarding containment of the banking crisis. Selling pressure was there in many Media stocks, IT stocks, and Auto stocks.
Idea, Yes Bank, and BCG were the most traded stocks, today at NSE, in terms of volume. HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Adani Enterprises were the most traded stocks in terms of value. 13 stocks touched new 52-week high today. 485 stocks touched new 52-week low. Market breadth remained negative.
