The benchmark equity indices gave up some of their intraday gains but continued to trade nearly 1% higher in the afternoon trade on Tuesday after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman concluded her Union Budget 2022 speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Sensex and Nifty shed gains post budget annoucment but recouped the gains later on.
At around 1.40 pm, BSE Sensex was trading at 58,534.60 up 520.43 points or 0.90% and NIfty50 at 17,476.15 up 136.30 points or 0.79%.
Nifty50 is currently 17,570.95 up 231.10 points or 1.33%. Nifty Bank is at 38,136.70, up 0.42%. Mid-cap Index is up 0.50%.
Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Ultratech Cement and IndusInd Bank are the top gainers. BPCL, IOC, Tata Motors, SBI Life and SBIN are the top losers.
Nifty Metal, Pharma and FMCG stocks stay bullish despite volatile trade. Nifty Auto, PSU Bank stocks fall and Oil & Gas stocks fall further.
Out of 50 stocks traded on the NSE, 33 advanced and 17 declined.
