Adani Green Energy's wind energy surpasses 1 GW mark

26 May 2023 , 03:42 PM

Adani Green Energy (AGEL) announced a significant boost in its wind generation capacity, reaching an impressive milestone of 1,101 MW (1.1 GW).

The surge in capacity came as a result of the successful commissioning of a 130 MW wind power plant in Kutch, Gujarat, by its subsidiary, Adani Wind Energy Kutchh Five. This expansion marks a remarkable achievement for AGEL, solidifying its position as a key player in the renewable energy sector.

In a significant development, Adani Green Energy (AGEL) has secured a 25-year power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for its newly commissioned 130 MW wind power plant in Kutch, Gujarat.

The agreement, valued at Rs 2.83/kWh, underscores AGEL's commitment to renewable energy generation. AGEL also emphasized that this accomplishment propels its overall renewable portfolio closer to its ambitious goal of achieving a capacity of 45 GW by 2030. This milestone reaffirms AGEL's determination to contribute significantly to India's clean energy aspirations.

AGEL has been diligently pursuing its projects while steadfastly aligning sustainability with economic progress. By doing so, the company has been successful in not only creating employment opportunities but also driving decarbonization efforts, in line with India's commitment at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

AGEL's endeavors have brought them closer to achieving Climate Leadership status, marking a significant stride towards a greener and more sustainable future.
