In a recent development, Jio Cinema, led by Viacom-18, has entered into a multi-year agreement with NBC Universal (NBCU) to strengthen its current library of premium content. As per the sources, the said deal is valued at $ 15-20 million per year.
The sources highlighted that the content portfolio includes titles from Universal Television, Universal Television Alternative Studio, Sky Studios, UCP, DreamWorks Animation, Universal International Studios, Focus Features, Universal Pictures, and Bravo. NBCU’s programming will be available under the Jio Cinema Premium SVOD tier. It shall be available as a Peacock-branded hub, starting next month.
Recently, JioCinema has introduced its premium paid service for Hollywood content priced at Rs 999 per year featuring HBO and Warner Bros content.
Last month, Viacom18 entered a deal with Warner Bros Discovery that involves a fee payment of $20 million as an annual license fee to the American media giant.
