L&T Construction bags multiple orders for power transmission & distribution business

21 Mar 2024 , 05:46 PM

Larsen & Toubro Limited has announced that its power transmission and distribution division has won engineering, procurement, and construction contracts both in India and abroad.

India has initiated significant transmission system expansion initiatives to incorporate Renewable Energy (RE) initiatives in Gujarat's RE potential areas and to transmit power from Rajasthan's solar energy zones.

The company has acquired turnkey contracts for the development of more than 365 kilometers of 765kV double-circuit transmission lines that are crucial for the expansion of the network. The Rajasthan segment of the transmission line will play a crucial role in transmitting solar energy from the Ramgarh, Fategarh, and Bhadla complexes to various beneficiaries.

Additionally, the company has been awarded a contract to deploy an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) in the Greater Mumbai region.

Under the Revamped, Reforms-based, and Results-linked Distribution Sector (RDSS) Scheme, the company has received another order to develop distribution infrastructure in a district of Chhattisgarh.

On the international front, the company has secured a contract to build a 380kV Substation in Saudi Arabia, along with related transmission interconnections.

In addition, the company has also been awarded a contract to build transmission lines of 275kV and 132kV on the eastern coast of peninsular Malaysia.

As part of a consortium, the company has secured a contract to develop a 500kV transmission line for the transmission system improvement project aimed at improving system security in Thailand's northern and central regions.

The company has also announced that it has secured additional contracts for substation and transmission line projects in India and the Far East.
