Power giant NTPC has begins the work for a hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh to set up manufacturing facilities for a hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh. The plant will provide manufacturing facilities for equipment, production and export of green hydrogen as well as green ammonia.
The state-owned company has entered in a non-binding MoU has been signed with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for development of hydrogen hub near Vishakhapatnam.
Jaikumar Srinivasan, director- finance said, “NTPC is entering into hydrogen and energy storage solutions in a big way. Recently, work for hydrogen hub has initiated in Andhra Pradesh. Also a storage tender for 9000 MWh has been opened.”
“NTPC has an operational renewable energy capacity of 3.2 GW and total capacity in the pipeline has exceeded 20GW with various agreements in place,” added Srinivasan.
NTPC is also planning to come up with initial public offering for its renewable energy arm NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) to raise funds alongwith some kind of strategy sale initiative.
