Tata Power RE to set up 200 MV solar project in Maharashtra

22 Mar 2023 , 03:39 PM

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of the Tata Power Company Limited and a significant player in the renewable energy sector in India, has been granted a 'Letter of Award' (LoA) by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).

This state-owned entity, wholly owned by the Maharashtra Government, has selected TPREL to establish a 200 MW solar PV project in Solapur, Maharashtra.

The project will be completed within 18 months of the execution date of the PPA. Competitive bidding was used to award the project, which was then followed by a reverse e-auction.

The installation will be one of the largest solar PV projects and will reduce approximately 432.94 million kg of CO2 emissions per year.

According to Mr. Ashish Khanna, the CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, “the company is honored to contribute towards the fulfillment of Maharashtra's renewable energy goals. With a current nationwide portfolio of over 6.5 GW, securing another 'Letter of Award' for constructing a 200 MW solar PV project reaffirms MSEDCL's faith in the company's ability to execute projects and deliver engineering solutions.”

TPREL has now expanded its renewable energy capacity to 6,503 MW with the successful bid for the 200 MW solar PV project in Solapur, Maharashtra. This includes an installed capacity of 3,909 MW, comprising 2,981 MW of solar power and 928 MW of wind energy, as well as 2,594 MW of projects which are in various stages of implementation.
