India’s domestic aviation traffic increased from 12.24 million passengers in September 2023 to 13 million passengers in September 2024, a 4.9% rise.
Despite a minor decline from 13.1 million fliers in August, this increase has occurred. The rise is explained by the ongoing demand for air travel, even though there are still supply issues with planes.
With a market dominance of 63% and a 69.2% on-time performance, IndiGo maintained its lead. With a 15.1% share and a little better on-time performance of 68.1%, Air India came in second. Vistara came in second with 10% of the market and an on-time percentage of 69.1%.
However, SpiceJet suffered a further decline in its market share, from 2.3% in August to barely 2% now. With a 30.4% on-time performance, it was noticeably poor. The figure also showed that 86% was the average occupancy rate for all airlines.
