On Monday, November 11, HFCL Ltd. announced that its consortium comprising Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) and Aerial Telecom Solutions had been declared the lowest bidder for a BharatNet project by BSNL.
The consortium bids ₹6,925 Crore for a middle-mile network in Uttar Pradesh’s east and west as part of the Centre’s BharatNet Phase III plan.
According to the corporation, the consortium partners would eventually receive a 10-year O&M order. The annual rate will be 5.5% of capex for the first five years and 6.5% for the future years, totalling ₹4,155 Crore after the first ring of the network is commissioned.
HFCL won the BharatNet Phase III contracts for the Punjab circle with a bid of ₹1,244 Crore on its own. The company plans to get a 10-year O&M order for ₹746 Crore, with an annual rate of 5.5% for the first five years and 6.5% for the remaining five, following the commissioning of the first ring of the network.
HFCL is ideally positioned to meet the needs of the BharatNet Phase III programme, with a wide product portfolio that includes routers, optical fibre cables, fibre connection solutions, transport solutions, power management solutions, and so on, said Mahendra Nahata, HFCL’s managing director.
