26 Mar 2024 , 03:17 PM

Through L&T’s longstanding Japanese partner, Sojitz Corporation, the Railways Strategic Business Group of L&T Construction has successfully obtained a large order contract to construct the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Project (Phase 2A) (Contract Package CP205) for MRT Jakarta. With this contract, L&T has placed its first EPC Railway Systems order in the ASEAN area. Based on the project classification of the organization, the order value falls within the range of ₹1,000 Crore to ₹2,500 Crore.

With a total length of around 12.5 km and 7 underground stations, the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A is an extension of the current Jakarta MRT Line for the segment between Bundaran HI and Kota.

This package includes design and development, procurement, and delivery of many systems across multiple domains, along with overall system integration. Trackworks, Overhead Contact (OCC) systems, Substation systems, Power Distribution Systems, Signalling and Telecommunication Systems, SCADA Facility, Platform Screen Doors, and Equipment Modification for the Existing OCC and Stations/Train Sets are all included in the project scope (Phase-1).

Offering complete Design-Build/EPC solutions for railway projects with a single point of contact for design, engineering, supply, project planning, quality control, and execution, L&T is the industry leader in India. Currently, L&T is working on integrated railway systems projects for Dhaka Metro and the Mauritius LRT.
