The Board of Directors of P&G has given the green light to the appointment of Kumar Venkatasubramanian as the Managing Director of P&G India, effective May 1, 2024, for a five-year term. However, this appointment is contingent upon the approval of the company’s shareholders and the Central Government, as per the provisions of Section 196 of the Companies Act, 2013, along with Schedule V to the Act.
Venkatasubramanian will be succeeding L. V. Vaidyanathan, who has tendered his resignation as Managing Director and from his directorship in the company, effective as of the close of business hours on April 30, 2024. Vaidyanathan has decided to step down to pursue other endeavors.
Kumar Venkatasubramanian brings with him an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. He embarked on his career journey with P&G in India in 2000, joining as a new hire in the Sales function from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. Throughout his 23+ years with the company, he has held various leadership roles in sales across different regions in India. He has also gained significant experience in managing partnerships with distributor operations and key customers. Venkatasubramanian has had exposure to international markets, having managed complex categories in countries such as Brazil and Australia. Until 2020, he served as the head of the P&G India Sales function and the Oral Care category.
In 2020, Venkatasubramanian assumed the role of CEO at P&G Australia and New Zealand, where he achieved remarkable business performance by driving strong category growth. With his extensive leadership experience and robust business acumen, he has successfully led diverse teams over the years.
Previously, LV Vaidyanathan, who had been spearheading P&G’s operations in Indonesia, was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Procter & Gamble India in July 2022. Vaidyanathan, who commenced his career with P&G in India in 1996 in the sales function, has held various leadership positions across different geographies and cultures. With over 26 years of experience, he has worked in diverse markets such as India and ASEAN countries, including Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. In 2018, he was elevated to the position of CEO for P&G Indonesia.
