SpiceJet has stated that on October 10, 2024, new UDAN flights will begin operating, linking Shivamogga, Karnataka, with Chennai and Hyderabad.
According to an official press release, Shivamogga is the airline’s first new destination after its successful Rs 3,000 crore Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), which supports its expansion goals. This is Shivamogga’s debut on SpiceJet’s domestic network.
With the exception of Tuesdays, the new flights will run every day, providing easy travel alternatives between Shivamogga and important metropolises, hence promoting trade, tourism, and regional development. In order to meet the enormous demand on this popular route, SpiceJet will also start operating double daily flights between Chennai and Kochi on the same date.
“This expansion underscores our commitment to enhancing regional connectivity through the UDAN scheme and providing affordable, seamless travel options across India,” stated Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet to ET. Our focus on satisfying the increasing demand on this important route is also reflected in the two daily flights operating between Chennai and Kochi.
Shivamogga is now a part of SpiceJet’s network, which aims to link Tier-2 cities with major cities. On these flights, the airline will fly De Havilland Canada Q-400s with 78 seats. SpiceJet’s website, mobile app, online travel portals, and travel agencies are currently accepting reservations.
