Six stocks are prohibited from trading on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in the futures and options (F&O) segment by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) due to exceeding 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL). However, these securities will remain tradable in the cash segment.
The six stocks banned under the F&O segment for April 23 are Biocon, Hindustan Copper, Vodafone Idea, Piramal Enterprises, SAIL, and ZEEL. The NSE revises this ban list daily.
NSE stated that derivative contracts of these securities crossed the 95% MWPL, necessitating the ban. It emphasized that clients/members should only trade to reduce their positions, warning against increasing open positions.
During the ban period, no fresh positions are permitted for any F&O contracts of the affected stocks.
On Monday, both Sensex and Nifty closed positively. Sensex surged by 560.29 points to close at 73,648.62, while Nifty rose by 189.40 points to close at 22,336.40. Nifty showed a 1.01% increase, and Sensex exhibited a 0.77% rise.
All sectoral indices experienced gains, with the PSU Bank index leading with a 2.96% rise, followed by the Consumer Durables index at 2.36%.
