Flipkart which was launched in 2019 is aiming to use e-commerce to support MSMEs, craftspeople, and underserved areas nationally. To help small businesses sell their goods on Flipkart’s marketplace, the program provides incubation, help with onboarding, free cataloging, marketing support, account administration, business insights, and warehouse support.
The District Administration of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and Walmart-owned Flipkart signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce regional craftspeople, weavers, and people with disabilities from Varanasi to the online market as part of the latter’s Samarth program. According to Flipkart, its 400 million users would have access to goods including handmade dari from the area, zardozi crafts, hand-knotted carpets, and Banaras sarees. For local businesses, the program will offer training and time-bound incubation support.
MSMEs are currently expanding more quickly thanks to the power of technology and a bigger national market. State-specific local famous goods are now available for purchase through e-commerce from customers around the nation.
