Market Update: Indian stock markets in green

Indian stock market indices are trading in green on Tuesday, following global trends. The Sensex rose by 295 points or 0.40% to reach 74,966, while the Nifty increased by 97.45 points or 0.413% to reach 22,740.85. Among the traded stocks, 1785 advanced, 1407 declined, and 90 remained unchanged.

The broader market also saw gains, with the BSE MidCap index rising by 0.95% and the BSE SmallCap index by 0.34%. The Auto index saw the highest increase of 2.40%, followed by the Realty index, which rose by 1.70%.

Among the Nifty 50 stocks, 13 were in decline, with Tech Mahindra, Dr. Reddy's, Tata Steel, Hindalco, and HCLTech leading the losses. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, Power Grid Corp, Bajaj Auto, and Shriram Finance were the top gainers.

On the BSE Sensex, 12 stocks saw declines, with Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, HCLTech, JSW Steel, and Sun Pharma leading the losses. Conversely, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finserv, and Maruti Suzuki India were the top gainers. The Bank and Financial Services indices were in the green, while the IT, Metal, and Pharma indices were in decline.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought ₹169.09 Crore shares, whereas domestic institutional investors (DIIs) invested ₹692.05 Crore on April 29, according to provisional data from the NSE.
