Maruti Suzuki recalled Baleno RS due to brake system issue

24 Apr 2023 , 12:21 PM

Maruti Suzuki has issued a statement to recall for the Baleno RS model on sale in India. The recall of 7,213 cars is to address a suspected defect in the vacuum pump of the car. The affected vehicles were manufactured between October 27, 2016 and November 1, 2019.

‘The company has announced to recall 7,213 Baleno RS vehicles manufactured between 27th Oct, 2016 and 01st Nov, 2019. It is suspected that there is a possible defect in Vacuum Pump (“Parts”), which assists the brake function. In a rare case, the affected vehicle may require increased effort in brake pedal application,’ Maruti Suzuki India Ltd said in a stock exchange filing.

Post announcement, the shares of the company dropped 1.18% on NSE trading at Rs 8457.15 at 12.20 PM.

The authorized dealers of Maruti Suzuki will contact affected vehicle owners to arrange for free replacement of the problematic parts.

The company recalled 17,362 units of the Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno, and Grand Vitara models to replace a defective airbag controller in January of this year. The products in question were produced between December 8, 2022, and January 12, 2023.
