POWERGRID Secures 20-GW Transmission Project in Rajasthan

12 Sep 2023 , 11:44 AM

POWERGRID emerges as the successful bidder in a tariff-based Competitive Bidding process for an Inter-State Transmission System Project in Rajasthan. The project involves a 765/400kV substation with a STATCOM unit at Ramgarh and a 765kV D/C Transmission Line.

The initiative also includes extending bays at various existing substations in Rajasthan. This project is vital due to Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), set to generate 20 GW of power, necessitating efficient evacuation.

POWERGRID’s success highlights its technical prowess and commitment to facilitating green energy transfer across India. The new substation and infrastructure augmentation enhance transmission capacity and grid reliability.

Incorporating a STATCOM unit reflects POWERGRID’s focus on advanced technology for voltage control and grid management. This achievement solidifies POWERGRID’s leadership in power transmission, supporting India’s sustainable energy future.

The success is a win-win, benefitting both the company and India by strengthening the power transmission network. POWERGRID’s commitment to energy security and sustainability is evident in its role in India’s clean energy transition.
