On May 27, 2025, Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading in red at during mid-day session. The Sensex was at 81,689, down 503 points or 0.59% at 1:45 PM. Nifty 50 was down by 148 points or 0.60%, quoting at 24,852.
According to the National Stock Exchange, market breadth was in favor of losers, as 1,221 shares were advancing, against a total of 1,329 stocks declining. In the Nifty 50 index, 12 stocks were advancing, while 38 were declining.
Most sectoral indices were in the red in early trade on Tuesday, with Nifty IT being the worst hit, down 1%. Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Bank came next with both falling 0.7%. Other sectoral winners were Nifty FMCG, PSU Bank and Oil & Gas at 0.5% each.
The most impressive Sensex gainers included IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, Adani Ports and Sun Pharma. UltraTech Cement, ITC, NTPC and Mahindra & Mahindra were the top losers in the Sensex pack.
The Nifty 50 index was trading 77.5 points down at 10786 For the day, the index closed at 10742In the Nifty 50 index, IndusInd Bank, Jio Financial Services, Trent and Asian Paints were among the top gainers. UltraTech Cement, ITC, NTPC and Grasim Industries were the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks. The BSE Midcap index was 0.034% higher than its previous close in the broader markets. The BSE Small cap index too gained 0.13% in the same time.
