Markets may see a mixed day today

26 Apr 2024 , 09:02 AM

Indian stock markets may have a mixed day on April 26th . Early indications from the GIFT Nifty point towards a start in green. Nifty futures are hovering around the 22,657.5 level, reflecting early bullish sentiment.

In a resilient display, Indian equities staged a notable recovery on April 25, marking their fifth consecutive session of gains. However, profit-taking in the final hours tempered the overall ascent.

Closing figures from the previous session depict a robust performance, with the Sensex climbing 486.50 points (0.66%) to reach 74,339.44, while the Nifty surged by 167.90 points (0.75%) to settle at 22,570.30.

International Markets:

Meanwhile, Asian markets present a mixed picture on Friday, with investors eyeing key developments such as the Bank of Japan’s policy announcement and inflation data from Tokyo.

On Wall Street, Thursday witnessed a downturn as market sentiment was rattled by disappointing data on US economic growth and ongoing inflation concerns. The release revealed the slowest expansion of the US economy in nearly two years during the first quarter, coupled with an acceleration in inflationary pressures. These revelations dampened expectations for imminent interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average retreated by 375.12 points (0.98%) to close at 38,085.80, while the S&P 500 dipped by 23.21 points (0.46%) to 5,048.42. The Nasdaq Composite also experienced a decline, shedding 100.99 points (0.64%) to reach 15,611.76.

FII & DII

In terms of investor activity, provisional data from the NSE indicates that Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded shares worth Rs 2,823.33 crore, whereas Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) injected Rs 6,167.56 crore into the market on April 25.
