Shalby Multispecialty Hospitals launches Shalby Orthopedics Centre of Excellence in Ahmedabad

14 Mar 2022 , 10:15 AM

Shalby Hospital

Shalby Multispeciality Hospitals Limited celebrated its 28th anniversary with the launch of an orthopedics franchise in Ahmedabad. Shalby was founded by Dr Vikram Shah, world-renowned joint replacement surgeon and Chairman & Managing Director of Shalby Multispecialty Hospitals.

The company said in a filing on Sunday that interestingly, this franchise which has been named as Shalby Orthopedics Centre of Excellence (SOCE), is opening at the same place where Dr Vikram Shah opened his first hospital way back in 1994 near Vijay Char Rasta in Navrangpura.

At around 9.52 am, Shalby Ltd was trading at Rs129.40 per piece down by Rs0.9 or 0.69% from its previous closing of Rs130.30 per piece on the BSE.

“He started with a joint replacement centre here and then forayed into establishing 11 multispecialty hospitals all across India. With that this hospital was also converted into a multispecialty hospital. With the launch of SOCE it is being converted from multispecialty into an orthopaedics specialty centre which is owned and operated by Shalby Hospitals. Whilst earlier it used to provide treatment for all specialties, now it will provide focused orthopedics services,” company said.

After opening a SOCE in Udaipur last year, this is Shalby Multispecialty Hospitals’ second orthopedic speciality franchise hospital in India. This is a dedicated, state-of-the-art, full service, walk-in orthopedic centre for the convenient and quality treatment of all joint replacements, orthopedic disorders, accident & trauma as well as sports injuries under one roof.

It will provide a wide range of orthopedic services including knee and hip replacement surgeries and is equipped with state-of-the-art operation theatre, ICU and emergency department. It will offer OPD as well as IPD services to patients. This will immensely benefit people who will be able to get world-class orthopedic treatment here. It will be very helpful in orthopaedic emergencies for people of nearby areas. Besides, it will give an opportunity to young and talented doctors to get associated with a world-class infrastructure set up by SOCE, Vijay.

Dr. Vikram Shah, Chairman & Managing Director of Shalby Multispecialty Hospitals said, “This is our second SOCE centre in India. We are launching one more in Rajkot soon and then one in Gwalior later. Our plan is to start 50 such smaller orthopaedics franchise hospitals all across India in next five years. This will enable people from smaller cities to access best in class orthopaedics treatment at their own doorstep. Personally for me, this is like a second innings of our first hospital in Ahmedabad which I started in 1994. After being a multispecialty hospital for fifteen years when we established our SG Highway hospital in 2007 this too was converted into a multispecialty hospital. With the launch of SOCE here, it is again being turned into an orthopedics franchise centre now.”
