Stock market closed on April 14 and 15 on account of Mahavir Jayanti/ Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Good Friday

13 Apr 2022 , 07:39 PM

The Indian financial markets would be shut for four consecutive days, starting from Thursday on account of Mahavir Jayanti/ Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti, and Good Friday. Also, money and commodity markets are closed for four days.

This week would be a truncated one as the markets would be shut again on Friday due to Good Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the stock market will remain closed for the regular weekly holidays.

Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth of Mahavira (Indian sage Vardhamana) who established the central tenets of Jainism.

Further, domestic markets remained under pressure on Wednesday and ended marginally lower, in continuation of the prevailing corrective phase. Initially, firm Asian markets led to a gap-up opening however the gains fizzled out in no time due to selling pressure in auto and banking heavyweights.

Meanwhile, sectoral and broader indices traded mixed which kept the participants busy till the end. Also, markets will react to two major earnings i.e. Infosys and HDFC bank on Monday i.e. April 18. Besides, any major development on the global front in the next four days would also impact the sentiment.
