Tata Motors is preparing to establish a dedicated sales network for its electric passenger vehicles in the current fiscal year to enhance the customer experience for eco-friendly vehicle buyers. The company, headquartered in Mumbai, has unveiled updated versions of its Nexon EV and Nexon (internal combustion engine). It plans to conduct trial runs of new outlets in cities with high electric vehicle demand.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Managing Director Shailesh Chandra emphasized the need to separate sales outlets for electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles due to different customer requirements and an expanding EV portfolio. Tata Motors is committed to investing approximately $2 billion in battery-powered vehicles by 2027 and aims to strengthen its domestic EV supply chain by constructing a battery manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
With the upcoming introduction of Bharat Stage 7 emissions regulations, the company expects a further decline in diesel car sales, prompting the creation of a distinct brand philosophy and personality for EVs. The plan includes the establishment of exclusive EV dealerships in the coming quarters to cater to the unique needs and preferences of EV customers.
