SJVN Ltd awarded Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) a 200 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project on Tuesday.
Tata Power stated in a regulatory filing that FDRE delivers round-the-clock power supply and assists discoms in achieving renewable purchasing obligations (RPO) and energy storage obligations (ESO).
‘Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from SJVN Ltd (SJVN) for the development of the 200 MW FDRE project,’ the business stated.
SJVN is a public sector undertaking (PSU) involved in hydroelectric and renewable power generation and transmission, and has been designated by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) as the Renewable Energy Implementing Agency (REIA) for achieving the nation’s target of 500 GW by 2030.
The company expects to commission the project within a period of 24 months from the execution date of the power purchase agreement (PPA). The company was awarded the project via a competitive bidding process, followed by reverse e-auction.
This is the first FDRA power project received by TPREL. The tender also consists of a green shoe option, allowing for additional capacity beyond the initial capacity of 200 MW.
The installation of this project is likely to offset 9 lakh metric tonnes of CO2 on an annual basis.
