Urbanization is crucial as 50% of people will live in cities by 2047, says NITI Aayog CEO

By 2047, 50% of Indians will reside in urban regions, according to Parameswaran Iyer, CEO of NITI Aayog, who made this statement on Thursday. Speaking at a FICCI-sponsored event, Iyer praised the fantastic work that many states have done in solid waste management.

“The solution will lie in urbanization. If you don’t have access to essential services in metropolitan areas, it will be challenging to meet the needs of the 50% of the population living there by 2047, “he observed. He asserted that the circular economy is now taking on more significance.

When asked about the cleanliness of India’s tourist hotspots, Iyer responded, “If you want to push tourism in India aggressively, you better have clean places surrounding, you better have better behavior by tourists and by the people.” There are numerous stunning tourist destinations in India.
