Suzlon Energy Ltd. has won a 400 MW captive wind power arrangement to lead the decarbonisation of steel manufacturing, the firm announced in an exchange filing. The company stated that it has received the order from Jindal Renewables Power.
With the latest purchase, Suzlon Energy’s total order book currently stands at roughly 5.4 GW. Suzlon Energy announced that this is the first wind energy project for the Jindal Group’s renewable energy branch.
This milestone order is the industry’s largest C&I win, reinforcing Suzlon’s market leadership and driving India’s clean energy transition, according to the paperwork.
Suzlon will supply 127 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, in the Koppal region of Karnataka.
The power generated would be used for captive consumption at steel factories in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, increasing operational sustainability and contributing to India’s green energy ambitions.
Jindal Renewables’ President, Bharat Saxena, stated that the company is integrating green energy into steelmaking to reduce its carbon impact and ensure sustainability. This collaboration is the start of a new era in sustainable steel production, allowing us to meet the Group’s net zero goal by 2047.
At around 2.32 PM, Suzlon Energy was trading 1.96% lower at Rs 75.19, against the previous close of Rs 76.69 on NSE. The counter touched an intraday high and low of Rs 77.89, and Rs 74.67, respectively.
