Vedanta Ltd reported an increase in aluminium, zinc, and iron ore output in the September quarter on Friday. However, production of steel, mined metals from abroad, and oil and gas fell throughout the quarter.
In the second quarter, aluminium output increased by 3% to 6,09,000 tonnes compared to the same period last year, according to Vedanta’s BSE filing.
Zinc India’s saleable metal output increased to 2,62,000 tonnes from 2,41,000 tonnes.
While at Zinc International, mined metal output fell by 34% to 44,000 tonnes, from 66,000 tonnes in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, oil and gas output fell 22 percent to 1,04,900 boepd (barrels of oil equivalent per day) during the quarter, down from 1,34,100 boepd the previous year.
The production of saleable iron ore increased to 1.3 million tonnes from 1.2 million tonnes the year before.
Total saleable steel production fell 22% to 2,96,000 tonnes, while power sales increased 7% to 4,322 million units from 4,047 million in the July-September period of the previous fiscal year.
