Eco-Fashion Takes Root: Kidbea Raises Million for Sustainable Threads

9 Jan 2024 , 10:20 AM

Kidbea, a bamboo made kids apparel business, said that it had raised $1 million for its pre-series, a financing round headed by Venture Catalysts, an early-stage investor.

Agility Ventures and BestVantage Investments, in addition to Ashok Bahadur and Sandeep and Upasana Agarwal, the creators of Droom, a group of seasoned angel investors, and Japanese actor Hiro Mizushima, all participated in the investment round.

‘The money represents a significant step forward in our plan to make Kidbea a Rs 500 crore brand in the next three years. The cofounder of Kidbea, Swapnil Srivastav, stated, ‘With this funding, we can continue to redefine children’s fashion, expand our global presence, and improve our sustainable offerings.’ The company also reported an eight-fold increase in revenue in FY-23 within the rapidly growing $16.4 billion kidswear market.

Kidbea is a 2021 startup founded by Swapnil Srivastav, Mohammad Hussain, and Aman Kumar Mahto. It focuses in making skin-friendly children’s clothing from bamboo plants. Kidbea’s products address problems including soreness, rashes on the skin, and food spills in babies by offering GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified apparel that is kind to children’s skin and environmentally sustainable.

Kidbea plans to enhance operations, grow its workforce, and accelerate its marketing and branding campaigns with the help of the investment. In addition, a significant amount of the money will go toward technology and research & development in order to keep the company at the forefront of the ever changing children’s fashion market.

‘Kidbea has a significant opportunity to target the market in both metropolitan and small town areas due to India’s daily birth rate exceeding 67,000 children. This opportunity is driven by new parents’ growing awareness of sustainable and eco-friendly clothing.’ ‘Kidbea’s creative strategy and commitment to excellence are in line with the evolving demands of conscientious customers,’ stated Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, Venture Catalysts’ managing director and cofounder.

Kidbea is currently available in over 30 associated stores situated in upscale children’s hospitals, as well as on all major online platforms. Furthermore, Kidbea has extended its global presence to encompass the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Australia. Soft toys, bodysuits, rompers, reusable cloth diapers, and accessories are among the products offered by the business for children.
