Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director at Maruti Suzuki, informed CNBC-TV18 on September 4 that the automaker Maruti Suzuki has surpassed rival Mahindra & Mahindra this August to become the country's top producer of sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
Additionally, Shashank Srivastava told CNBC-TV18 that the automaker outperformed the sector last month with a YoY growth rate of 16.5%.
This holiday season, we will sell more than one million units. The holiday season typically accounts for 26% of total yearly sales. Maruti's market share has increased as a result of the introduction of four new SUVs, according to Srivastava. Additionally, he said, 'This year's Onam season showed retail growth of 25% in Kerala.
In addition, the executive director noted that the SUV market is doing nicely while the small vehicle segment has shrunk to 30% of the overall auto industry from 35% last year. SUVs currently make up 49% of the market as opposed to just 29% a few years ago, he claimed.
