SLMG Beverages plans to invest approximately Rs 100 crore to expand its electric vehicle (EV) fleet. The goal is to increase the fleet from the current 2,000 EVs to 5,000 by 2024 for the distribution network.
SLMG Beverages aims to entirely convert its distribution to EVs as part of its sustainability initiative. Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors will be the OEM partners providing 3-wheelers for bottle distribution in four states.
SLMG Beverages is India’s largest independent Coca-Cola bottler in India and South West Asia. Vivek Ladhani, Executive Director at SLMG Beverages, highlights the importance of green transport amid environmental concerns.
The company began using EVs two years ago, with current operations spanning several states. Expansion plans aim to further extend the EV fleet’s presence. SLMG Beverages envisions equipping 80 % of its fleet with EVs by 2025, aligning with sustainability goals. The adoption of over 2,000 battery-powered vehicles has reduced environmental impact and increased economic efficiency.
