Tata Motors will release petrol versions of the SUVs Safari and Harrier

For the Harrier and Safari, two of Tata Motors’ high-end sports utility vehicles, a new petrol version is being developed. Currently, a 2-liter diesel engine powers these cars. According to Press Trust of India’s interview with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles managing director Shailesh Chandra, the new petrol engine in development will be used in upcoming Harrier and Safari models.

According to Chandra, the business initially concentrated on diesel engines since, given its superior torque performance, diesel was chosen by 80% of the SUV sector, where the Harrier and Safari operate. Tata Motors, however, was aware of the rising desire for gasoline-powered vehicles and did not want to pass on the 20% of the market that favours it. The 1.5-liter GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engine is hence the project they are now working on. Chandra stated that adequate development and product integration are still necessary, therefore this is still a work in progress.

Additionally, Tata Motors is constructing facilities to support the new petrol engine. Updated versions of the Harrier and Safari, which have earned top safety ratings from the automotive safety organization Global NCAP, were introduced by Tata Motors last week.

Chandra made a point of highlighting the new Safari and Harrier as a new age in safety, excellence, and experience during the launch event. He emphasized their cutting-edge styling, superb craftsmanship, innovative features, and technologies. Given that both cars obtained a 5-star certification by GNCAP, they are the safest in India for protecting both adult and child occupants.

For the Harrier and the new Safari models, Tata Motors is providing introductory prices of Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 16.19 lakh, respectively.

The new Harrier is a true masterpiece, adding to its illustrious heritage with its distinctive sportiness, commanding personality, digital cockpit, and modern interiors.
